Packin’ up

Getting ready to load up the party van. And I mean load up. I am not known for travelling light, i.e. I bring my scrapbook stuff home with me. Derek makes fun of me every time. But I’m telling you, it’s prime scrapping time with so many grandparents around!

In other news…
I have a new camea heading my way as we speak! I am now the proud owner of a Nikon D70! I am so excited! I bought it from a friend and she gave me a fantastic deal on it. So excited.

I bought a $12 plastic pool from Wal-Mart, and it is the best $12 I have spent in a long time! Connor loves it. He jumps and splashes and slides down his slide into it. It was a great purchase. I wasn’t too sure about it. Last summer I bought him a pool but he just wasn’t into it. I think the water in Cali is cold and it’s never that hot out there. I would fill it up for him and then he would end up just playing in the dirt while Tommy the neighbor kid went swimming. C’est la vie.

My baby brother graduates from college in a week. I can’t believe it. Seems like just yesterday that we were playing taco in the front yard. Oh, you don’t know what taco is? You get a big sheet and roll down the hill encasing yourself like a taco….hence the name. And, sometimes you both do it at the same time, which I’ll admit hurts a bit as you roll over one another. But I was bigger. I digress. My baby brother is graduating and I am so proud of him and excited for his future. God’s got big things in store for this kid.

I better stop wastin’ time and get to packin’ and loadin’. I will see almost my entire blog readership really soon! Have a fab weekend, faithful blog readers!

Ray Ray, I love you

I love Rachel Ray (or Ray Ray as Derek and I like to call her.)

It all started when my sister bought me one of her cookbooks for my birthday. I wasn’t sold at first glance. I have heard good things about her, and I was definitely excited to get the book, but there were no pictures in it. And I am a girl who likes pictures in cookbooks. Despite the lack of pictures, I have used it several times, and the whole family has been pleased with the meals. Granted, most take me longer than 30 minutes to cook, and they seem to use a lot of ingredients. But, overall I have been pleased.

Then, a few weeks ago I discovered her tv show, 30 Minute Meals. I decided to start tivoing them, and oh my word! My like of Ray Ray turned into love! She makes me want to run into the kitchen and start cooking. Sure, she uses different ingredients than what I typically have on hand, but she makes it all look so easy! And all I have to do is remember to pick up potobello mushrooms or roasted red peppers or some other weird (at least to me) ingredient and I can make delicious dinners. On the menu this week is Vegetable Notsagna. Sort of like vegetable lasagna, but much, much easier.

Yum!
