Happy New Year!

2008.
Holy cow.
I can’t believe it’s 2008.
I know everyone says that times goes by faster when you get older, and even though I am only 27, I can totally see how this is true. It’s been 10 years since I graduated high school. 13 years since Derek and I started dating. I have a 5 year old, for goodness sake! Over Christmas break, I went to dinner with two of my oldest friends, and we talked about insurance, which means we are getting old.
Yup. Time is flying by.

Anyway, we had a really fun New Years Eve this year. It started with a peek at the baby. I love getting to see the miracle that’s growing in me!

This next one cracks me up. It’s no secret that both Derek and have rather full lips, and that gene has certainly passed on to Logan. Logan gets compliments all the time on the voluptuousness of his lips. He’s quite kissable. Well, I think based on this picture, the new baby is taking big lips to the next level!

Of course, those aren’t actual lips, just jawbones. But they sure look like lips!

The rest of yesterday was spent cleaning, putting Christmas away, grocery shopping, and making appetizers for our party last night. I know it doesn’t sound very exciting, but after feeling non-functional for the past 8 weeks, I am more than happy to be able to get a bunch of stuff done.

We went to an actual New Years Eve party, which might be the first time we’ve done anything other than watch movies since the last big Stork Family NYE Blowout I attended, which was 1997 I believe. We got together with our small group from church, and we seriously have so much fun together! We shared baby-sitters, so it was extra fun to not have to worry about the kiddos. We have such a fun group of friends here in H-Town, and I really wish I had some pictures from last night, but would you believe I didn’t even bring my camera!

Today was a good start to 2008. Connor and I went to Ikea where I purchased the shelf I’ve had my eye on for the past 6 months. Derek took a break from his computer building to put it together for me, and I spent a good part of the afternoon cleaning out the office and getting started on the great Organization Project of 2008. Again, it may not sound like much, but it just feels good to be functional again!

Happy New Year to you all! I hope 2008 brings you blessings and peace!

  1. wow, what a great new year! and fyi i already love that precious baby growing in you. every time i look at the adorable pic of connor and logan on our fridge, i smile and think about how there will be 3 munchkins in your christmas card next year!

  2. I dont want to jinx anything but those look like jawbones of a girl baby. I dont know…could be wrong…could be a really feminine boy…who knows!

  3. i remember that party. your foot fell through the ceiling and above the christmas tree. or was that derek’s? good times. good times.

  4. I have a pregnant friend whose husband lovingly refers to their first child-to-be as a bump. Is this like the new cool term for unborn babies? Could I just say “Hi Megan! How are you and how’s the bump?” Let me know, I’m curious. Oh, sorry for not calling back. My phone didn’t ring and I didn’t get your message until later. There is a reason that my phone didn’t ring (I hope you believe it). I forgot to put your number on my A-list. Around the holidays I get calls from those unknown, lost and forgotten high school friends so I created a list of people and my phone only rings for those on the list. FYI. You have been added 😉
