Progress

10:07 PM Megan’s dilated around 7cm, 100% effaced. The baby is high still at -2 station. An epidural has been administered to ease the contractions.

chillin’ in labor and delivery

7:35 PM We arrived in the hospital about 40 minutes ago. Things are looking fine. Baby’s heart rate is good. Megan’s doctor is not on call today so she will be delivered by another. But we have only heard good things about her. She is 60% effaced and 3cm dilated.

Week so far

No baby yet..obviously. Don’t you guys worry, the blog will be updated as soon as there is anything going on.

Here’s a rundown of the week so far:

Monday-picked up my mom from the airport, ate at Chick-fil-a, ran a few errands, and had a disappointing doctor’s appointment.

Tuesday-went to see Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, then went to Home Depot for a few supplies, and organized my entire pantry. It looks amazing! James, Justin, and Kayla came over for some pizza and a swim that evening.

Wednesday-Went swimming with our playgroup friends, grocery shopped, and made Annalee’s Spaghetti Al Limone for dinner, which was very yummy.

Thursday-it’s carpet cleaning day. I love steam cleaning the carpets. I am borderline obsessed by it. Tonight we are going out to dinner with James, Kathy, Justin, and Kayla.

I am so thankful that my mom flew in on Monday. This week has gone by remarkably fast. It’s my mom’s birthday tomorrow so maybe Cam was just waiting for mamaw’s birthday to make her appearance?? Tomorrow I have to go up to the hospital and get all the induction paperwork and details worked out. And I think I will get one final pedicure before the big event…heaven forbid I give birth with snaggly toes!

Here’s a few pictures from Tuesday night when my brother and his kids came over to swim. Posts are always more interesting with pictures

a little disappointing

I know I’m not going to be pregnant forever.
I know that Camryn will be here before we know it, and in the grand scheme of things, one more week is nothing.
I have 5 friends who were all due around the same time as me, and all 5 of them have delivered.
As for me…I made no progress in the past week. Well, I guess my doctor did say that her head is lower, but I am still 2 cm. He didn’t say if I was more effaced and I forgot to ask. It was only disappointing because I had so many contractions this past week and apparently they did nothing.
One more week.
I have an induction scheduled for next Monday if nothing happens before then.
Pray that it happens before than, okay? Thanks. 🙂

39 weeks

I admit that I chose my outfit for church carefully this morning. I got dressed hoping it would be my last Sunday being pregnant. Tomorrow I will be 39 weeks, and I know it’s obvious, but Camryn could really be here (and will be here) any day now.

39 weeks

I didn’t get any pictures of the nursery yet. I want to get them when there’s good light, and, well, I was reading/taking a nap when the light was streaming in the room.

In other news, today was my lucky day! I went to Target this afternoon to do a little shopping. Whenever I go to Target, (which isn’t all that often…maybe twice a month) I ask if they have any Wii’s in stock. Derek and I have been wanting one for awhile, but it wasn’t urgent enough to make a real effort to get one. I just figured the day Target had one would be Happy Wii Day. Well, today was that day! I’ve been asking if they had any Wii’s in stock for probably 6 months, and today they finally said yes! Woo hoo!! The timing is perfect for this…it will be such a good diversion with Baby Camryn/Madison/Sarah/Boobie coming. Any of you with Wii’s have any game recommendations?

Okay, okay. I know you are all dying to see the whitest belly in America one last time…

Lat night, I thought our 4th of July (I guess technically it was the 5th of July) was going to end up being pretty eventful after being super low-key.

I thought maybe I was going to get to have my very own play-by play just like Jana Kay and Staci.

At 2:30 a.m. a strong contraction woke me up. This was one of those that makes you catch your breath. It happened again….and again…and again. I got up, walked around, contemplated waking Derek and oh, you know, packing for the hospital or something. I would doze off, only to be jolted out of sleep again by contractions, and these really didn’t feel like braxton hicks. I was having to breath through them. Finally at 5:00, I decided to get up and officially start timing them. IF they were 5 minutes apart, I was going to go to the hospital. They weren’t…they turned out to not even be coming in a consistent time frame (12 minutes, 8 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, etc.) At 6:00 a.m., I woke myself up with one of those big head-nod things that happens when your in a really boring class or meeting, so I headed back to bed where I fell asleep and didn’t wake up until Logan came in at 8:00, which means I am not in labor. But I am a zombie today after being up half the night. And last night made me really think it won’t be long until Camryn gets here! I am so freaked out by that..I am just restless and anxious…I think the next day or week or however long is going to c…r…a…w…l by. My mom was going to fly in next Friday, but she changed her ticket to Monday. This is good because she will be here if I go into labor a little early, and she will be a great diversion for me and the kiddos as we go into the home stretch of the pregnancy.

So, like I mentioned before, our 4th of July was really low key. Derek’s parents and sister drove in on Friday morning for a quick visit. Marla is in culinary school, so we were treated to a super delicious meal-it was amazing…salmon, steak/pepper/onion/mushroom kabobs, twice baked potatoes, asparagus, salad with homemade dressing, garlic bread, and strawberries and blueberries with a chocolate ganoush and homemade whipped cream. Yum! Derek and I took the kids to the pool for a bit last night, and that was it. No fireworks this year…they just start so late!

Derek’s mom brought the rest of the nursery bedding with her, so Camryn’s room is all set up! It looks so great-I love it. Pictures to come soon!

4:00 a.m. is not my friend

Every morning, like clockwork, I am up sometime between 4 and 6 a.m. About half the time I am able to fall back asleep after 30 minutes or so. The other times, I just can’t get back to sleep and I get up. Yesterday, I woke up at 4:35. At 5:15, I got out of bed. At 6:15 I was finally tired again, and at 6:38 (after just dozing off again), the pitter patter of Logan feet arrived in our room. Yeah, I was tired yesterday, especially since I had stayed up until close to midnight the night before. The only good things about being so tired yesterday is I fell asleep at 9:45, and slept until 5:15. I was able to go back to sleep and woke up for good at 7:20. That’s a great night sleep in Megan world!

Oh, and one of the other features of my insomnia is my mind becomes fixated something like the best way to clean our jacuzzi bathtub and I cannot let it go. Normal people don’t obsess about that sort of thing in the wee hours of the morning.

Yesterday we had a playgroup baby shower for the 4 of us who are pregnant. Three of us are due within 3 days of each other, and one is due a few weeks later in August. It was a really fun day. I think there were 10 adults and over 20 kids. The kids were amazingly well behaved…I thought Laura was pretty brave hosting playgroup at her house, but it was really fun and relatively problem-free. Laura has an amazing backyard with a trampoline, big swingset, and even a zip line. The line starts from a platform about 6 or 7 feet in the air. All the kids love it, including my fearless Logan. Well, Logan fell from the zipline. I didn’t actually see it happen, but one of the other moms did. Apparently, he lost is grip at the very top and landed flat on his back-he probably fell about 6 feet or so. Needless to say, he was pretty upset, but thankfully not hurt. And in typical Logan fashion, all he needed was a few hugs, a bowl of strawberries and some juice, and he was back on that zipline like it never happened.

Right after it happened, he wouldn’t tell me how he fell. Did he lose his grip? Did one of the other kids give him a little push before he was ready? I was very curious to hear from Logan exactly what happened. So last night, I asked him about it. His answer was so Logan. He let go of one hand on purpose because he wanted to do a “cool trick.” He agreed with me that one-handed ziplining was not such a good idea. Smart kid. And cute kid. 🙂

Baby Camryn update: As of Monday, I am 2 cm dilated and 60% effaced. Some days I have tons of contractions and I think it could happen at any time. And some days I think she’ll hang on until the end. My due date is only 11 days away now! My cankles are ridiculously out of control, and it’s quite depressing when I get weighed at my appointments every week. Up until 36 weeks I had only gained about 18 pounds. I have now put on another 10, 8 of which I am sure is pure water weight. yuck! we are all ready for Camryn to get here and to meet our newest family member!
