Hello, long lost blog

Wow, have I ever been neglecting the blog!  Between all of the kid’s activities and my photography stuff, I barely have a spare moment to do anything!  No excuses.  Someday I will be really sad if I let too much time go by between blog posts.  We are still here an kicking.  Here’s a glimpse into the here and now of our family.

-He is reading voraciously.  I cannot keep enough books in his hands.  This week, he re-read all 5 Diary of a Wimpy kid books.  He is starting on Harry Potter this weekend.  He checked out the second book from the school library, and his sweet teacher let him borrow her own copy of the first book.  I’m hoping these two books get him through the Thanksgiving break, but I’m not sure it will!

-He finished his soccer season last weekend.  Soccer really clicked for him this year, and it was fun to watch him get so into it and improve so much this season.

– He still loves science and math so much.  He says he wants to be a scientist when he grows up, just like his daddy.  So sweet.

-He is such a morning person.  He loves to wake up early, and actually gets a little irritated with himself if he sleeps past 7:00.  He feels like he’s wasting the day.  Gotta admire that get-up-and-go attitude!

-We’re still working on self control.  It’s just so hard to control your mouth and hands when you know your way is the right way!  I see great leadership potential in him…we just need to reign it in a bit.

-He is loving kindergarten.  Loving it.  He is starting to read a bit, and he tries to sound out words.  He loves to practice his writing.  We find him constantly standing up at his dresser writing his words.  It’s so hard to be upset with him when he is supposed to be cleaning up his room and instead he wrote me a note that says “I love mom. love Logan”  I mean really?  He is just too sweet.

-He didn’t know anybody in his class at the beginning of the year, but he has made a ton of friends.  He makes friends so easily.  And the girls?  They love him.

-I had the first parent teacher conference of the year last week, and his teacher only had good things to say about him.  He’s adapted so well to school life.

-He is such a picky eater.  Drives me nuts because he’ll say he doesn’t like something without even trying it.  He doesn’t like casseroles.  He doesn’t like vegetables.  He doesn’t like most meat.  He is getting slightly better about trying new things, but he’s still got a long way to go.  He lives on applesauce, fruit cups, pizza, and pbjnh sandwiches.  pbjnh-peanut butter, jelly, nutella, and honey.  Yuck! But he loves it.

-He is so sweet with Camryn.  They have the sweetest, most special little bond.  They love each other so much!

-She is so full if life and sweetness and smiles.  And also plenty of two year old tantrums and sass.

-She is obsessed with Toy Story, and at least one of the movies is watched daily.

-She loves her “purpa peepee”  Translation: purple pinky.  It’s her prized blanket that goes everywhere with us.

-She calls Logan “Luby”  It’s so cute.  She loves her Luby!

-She thinks she big stuff and tries her very hardest to do everything the boys do and keep up with them.  It’s not uncommon to peek out in the backyard and see all the kids with their shirts off because they got hot.  She is the perfect mix of tomboy and girly-girl.  Sometimes she wants to sleep in her tutu.  She loves cinderella.  But she hangs in there with her boys.

(I just love this picture of Derek.  Even though it’s been posted before, I think it deserves a second post.)

-He finally used his birthday money to buy a Kinect.  I totally didn’t get it, but it’s turned out to be really fun!

-He loves to play xbox and has a weekly nerd-fest game night, which I sort of tease him about but I actually think it’s neat that he likes to play so much and has a good group of friends who like video games as much as he does.

-He has started playing soccer again once a week, and even though he complains about how hard it is and how out of shape he is compared to the “old days”, I know he loves it.

-He may not always know it (because I probably don’t tell him enough) but he is so loved and appreciated!  He does the dishes every night, takes care of the yucky cat box, hardly ever complains when I have a bug I need him to kill, and takes such good care of us all.  He’s the cat’s meow!

-As for me, my life has been overwhelming about photography the past few weeks.  Preschool pictures…mini sessions…regular sessions… I definitely know what photographers mean by the busy season!  I am feeling so very blessed that people want me to take their photos, and I’m truly loving it.  But I have definitely learned that I couldn’t keep up this pace year round, and I’ll be ready to get back to my normal work load after the holidays!

-I’ve been battling a cold for the past few weeks.  I thought I was over it, but just yesterday, I started running a fever and feeling worse.  I’m hoping to be back to 100% soon.  I don’t have time to be sick!

-I’ve been feeling very content lately.  I love my life.  I love our home.  It’s not perfect…it’s far from it.  But even on the days when I’m overwhelmed, I still have this peaceful, content feeling inside.

-I’m on my second year of Bible Study Fellowship, and I am loving my discussion group and the study of Isaiah.  If any of you are looking for a great bible study, you should check out BSF!

-I’m getting ready to upgrade my computer, and I am so stinkin’ excited about it.  The busy season means I’ve been able to save up some money.  Between that, Christmas, my anniversary, and my birthday coming up, I see a new Mac headed my way soon!  I think I’ve decided on an iMac (as opposed to a MacPro), but I’m still debating between the quad-core, big daddy 27 incher and the smaller (and slightly cheaper) 21.5 inch with some memory upgrades.  Decisions, decisions…all I know is it’s going to be dreamy to edit photos on something other than my basic MacBook!

I think that’s about it for now!  Hope y’all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I can’t wait to visit with our families and partake in the deliciousness that is Thanksgiving dinner!
