I never know quite how to start an About Me page. Should I make a list of interesting facts? How far back should I go? Do I make it interesting and creative, or just spit out the basics? As an extroverted middle child who loves to talk, I could probably crank out a novel. But I suppose this doesn’t need to be a full-fledged biography. I’ll try to keep it brief, I promise!
I’ve been married to that handsome man there for 14 years. We met back in the mid 90s where we kept up a long distance relationship via real letters written on actual paper, long distance calls made on phones that plugged into the wall, and when things got really fancy, emails written using AOL dial-up. In 1999, we tied the knot, and I’ve never looked back. I’ve known him for more than half my life, and I cannot imagine my life without him.
As you can see, we’ve got lots of kids. I always wanted to have a big family, and there are times when it takes my breath away that God would bless us so tremendously and entrust us with these four little people. Of course, there are also times when I want to curl up and hide from the fighting, the crying, the whining, the “mommymommymommymommy…” I like to keep things real, and here is the truth: being a mother is both the hardest and greatest thing I’ve ever done.
When my second son was born in 2005, I really started to take in interest in photography, mainly so I could get better photos for my scrapbooks. By the time my daughter was born in 2008, I realized that I had a passion for photography and had purchased my first dSLR camera (the Nikon D70) and portrait lens (the 50mm/1.8) The rest, as they say, is history. Megan Thurman Photography opened up officially in 2010. I intentionally put my business on the backburner after the birth of our fourth baby in September 2012 (who, for the record, is the world’s happiest baby, and quite possibly the cutest, too), but my passion for photography has not waned. I’m excited to see what’s in store, and I’d love to meet you and make you a part of the Megan Thurman Photography family.
And if this biography wasn’t enough for you, please feel free to check out my personal blog (which I just know I will get back to updating one of these days!)
Big thanks to Anna with Laughlin House Photography for the family photos that capture us so very perfectly!
