What is it about babies?

In the nine days since Logan was born, I have noticed something about babies in general. People are fascinated by them. And I can’t help but ponder this fascination. I mean, when it comes down to it, babies really don’t DO much. Logan’s day pretty much consists of eating, wiggling a little, and sleeping. But I just can’t take my eyes off of him. It just amazes me that Logan started out as two single cells and in nine months formed into a tiny, perfectly formed, distinctive person. It really is a miracle. I don’t want to miss a second of this miralce.

That leads me to my next thought. In my quest to soak up every minute of Logan’s life, I have managed to take 202 pictures related to Logan in 9 days. Right now, Logan is about 216 hours old. That’s almost a picture an hour! Out of control…maybe just a little.

I’ve posted a new photo album (don’t worry-not all 202 pictures are in it!) For a brief glimpse of Logan’s first week home, click here.

Brotherly Love

I just love this picture of Connor and Logan. Can’t you see the brotherly love pouring out?

We’ve been home for 3 days now and it is going really well for the most part. Connor hasn’t had too many meltdowns and seems to be adjusting pretty well. He even likes to help us out by getting diapers, throwing away the dirty ones, and pushing Logan in the swing. But his favorite way to help is to give Logan his “duck” a.k.a. his pacifier. Connor will walk up to Logan and say “Logan have yellow duck.” and try to put it in his mouth. Of course, most of the time Logan is sleeping and doesn’t want his paci, but it’s still really cute!

Logan is adjusting really well to life in the real world. He is such a good baby so far. He pretty much just eats, sleeps, and poops. He isn’t very fussy at all. I’m not sure if he’s just sleepy from being born or if he’s just going to be laid back. I’m certainly hoping for the latter!

It’s really amazing to me when I think about how much our family has changed in just a matter of days. We are so lucky and so blessed to have these boys.

Logan was born today!

Hey everybody,

Logan Bennett Thurman was born today in Arcadia, CA at 4:18pm PST.
He was 7 pounds and 20 inches long and perfect. It was a great delivery — quick and no complications. God has answered our prayers for a wonderful birth experience. Want to see more photos? Click here.

39 Weeks and Counting

So, Logan was not born on Tuesday the 15th like we had hoped. I guess he’s just too comfy inside my belly. He’s got to be running out of room! Maybe he will be born today. Then we would have a Christmas Eve baby and a St. Patrick’s Day baby. I’m not holding my breath though.

March 037.jpg I’ve been doing all sorts of things hoping to induce labor. My web research led me to an eggplant parmesan recipe that was supposed to start labor. I’ve had it for dinner two nights in a row with no luck. But, it is really good if anyone is looking for a new recipe! My research also led to a restaurant called Caioti Pizza. They have a salad that will supposedly start labor. My mom, Connor, and I headed there for lunch on Monday afternoon. Obviously, it didn’t work, but it sure was tasty! I’ve also been taking evening primrose oil, drinking red raspberry leaf tea, walking, swinging and doing just about everything else I’ve ever heard of that should start labor. No luck so far.

I guess I just have to resign to the fact that Logan is going to come when he is good and ready. Until then, I’ll just enjoy spring break with my mom, enjoy lots of shopping, and enjoy my last few nights of sleep!

I’m having a contraction.

March 001.jpgWhat else is new. I’ve been contracting a lot lately, but not for real. That’s ok by me though. I really want to see Bebo tomorrow and go to our baby showers this weekend and go out with some friends on Friday night. Plus, I want Logan to wait for Mamaw to get here before he’s born. I’m thinking that March 15 is a good day for him to be born. His middle name would be taken care of and the nice nurse I met Sunday is working. So, I’ve decided March 15 is the big day-do you hear that, Logan?

Test post with image

this is just a test posting to make sure that post can be made. I am also trying to test the image resize function since I finally got image::magick installed. I am now trying to do some sort of layout stuff with the html. If it is simple enough then Megan can do it and won’t complain about the really hard website design. I don’t know if I can come up with anything else that I can write here. It needs to be a lot in order to make it to the bottom of the image I have embedded. The image will also pop-up the larger version of itself
